Burke Resigns as Medford's Budget Director
The mayoral candidate says she wants to defuse any perception of a conflict of interest.

Likely to the surprise of few who follow Medford politics, newly declared candidate for mayor Stephanie Burke announced that she’s leaving her position as director of budget and personnel on Thursday.
“Due to my [at the time] pending announcement that I will be a candidate for mayor of this great city, I would not want the office of mayor to encounter any appearance of any conflict of interest,” reads her letter of resignation, sent to Mayor Michael McGlynn on Tuesday, and then to the media on Thursday.
In the same statement to the press, McGlynn describes Burk’s tenure as Medford’s budget director as “professional,” “dilligent,” and “masterful.”
