House Passes Casino Bill, But Medford Reps Split

Two out of three Medford State Representatives voted against the bill.

The state house overwhelmingly approved a bill to allow casinos in Massachusetts Thursday morning, but two out of three Medford representatives voted against it.

The bill, which calls for licensing of three resort-style casinos and one slot parlor to Massachusetts overwhelmingly passed through the state House of Representatives Wednesday with a vote of 123-32.

Rep. Paul Donato voted in favor of the bill, while Carl Sciortino and Sean Garaballey, Medford's other two representatives, both voted against the measure.
