Committee to Talk School Technology Thursday Night

New proposal will be debated Thursday.

A $2 million proposal to upgrade computers and technology infrastructure in Medford schools will be discussed in a school department committee meeting Thursday.

Mayor Michael McGlynn announced the plan Monday, but said it was subject to change depending on input from school and city officials and the public. Thursday's meeting of the Medford Schools Technology Committee marks the start of that process.

Under the current proposal, Medford schools would receive 1,413 new laptops, 515 refurbished desktops and relocating 180 desktops already owned by the schools. A total of 2,108 computers would be upgraded under the proposal, which would be funded in a bond. The plan would replace all computers that are 8 years old and older.
