Details Emerge in West Medford Shooting; City Council to Talk Carroll's Tonight

Good morning, here are five things to know today:
A man who was shot in the chest on Boston Avenue Sunday was able to call 9-1-1 from his cell phone and identify his alleged attacker before passing out, according to a police report. Damon Gentile, 33, of Gardener, faces a charge of assault with intent to murder in the shooting. He appeared in Somerville District Court Monday morning, where he was ordered held without bail pending the conclusion of his arraignment, which was continued until Friday, Oct. 28. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf, but Gentile did not speak during the court appearance.
2. Carroll's a Topic for City Council Tonight: There are plans for a new restaurant at 21 Main Street, and it will be a subject of discussion for the city council tonight. Carroll's is seeking permission to stay open extended hours. The meeting will be held at at 7 p.m.

The annual business trick-or-treat, coordinated by the Medford Chamber of Commerce will be taking place in Medford Square, West Medford Square and Haines Square from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Participating businesses will have an orange and black balloon outside their storefront.

5. Sunny: Clear skies are expected today with highs in the low-60s, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 30 percent chance of rain tomorrow, and a 60 percent chance on Thursday.
