Police fielded several reports of illegal fireworks over the weekend, including one in which fireworks were purportedly shot at officers.

MEDFORD, MA — Police are investigating a report of fireworks being deliberately shot at officers on the Fourth of July.
A city spokesperson told Patch the Medford Police Department responded to several reports of illegal fireworks over the weekend. During one incident, people reportedly directed fireworks at the officers, the spokesperson said. Officers requested additional assistance securing the scene.
"Though the events from this past weekend remain under investigation and I therefore will not comment on the details of this specific incident, I am disheartened and disappointed that harmful and/or hateful incidents continue to be reported in the City of Medford," Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "I want to once again state that acts of hate, especially those exhibiting violence toward any community members or police officers, are not tolerated in this City, and we will investigate any reported act of violence, hate, or defacement of property equally and appropriately."
