Fundraisers Started For Families Displaced By Medford Fire
The three-alarm fire on Canal Street displaced four families and sent one firefighter to the hospital Monday.

MEDFORD, MA — Fundraising efforts are underway for three of the families displaced by a fire on Canal Street Monday. The blaze tore through a multi-family home, reaching three alarms before firefighters were able to bring it under control.
One firefighter was injured battling the fire, and four families were displaced, the fire department said. GoFundMe pages for the Johnson-Occues and the Ortiz families have each surpassed their $10,000 goal. A Facebook fundraiser for a third family, which has a newborn daughter, has surpassed $20,000 in donations.
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire. The Medford Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating, a spokesperson for the Fire Marshal's office said.
