Genetic Research Company Progenika to Open Medford Lab

President of Basque will be on hand for opening Tuesday.

Progenika, a Spain-based genetic research company, will be opening a new lab at Rivers Edge in Medford Tuesday.

The President of the Basque region of Spain, Patxi Lopez, will be on hand for the ceremony, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. Progenika is based in Basque.

Progenika designs and produces genotyping microarrays used in the diagnosis and prognosis of genetically complex diseases. The company is relocating its U.S. lab from Cambridge to Medford, the press release said.

Lopez, along with Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President Susan Windham-Bannister, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment Executive Director Ken Brown, and MassBio Director of Economic Development & Global Affairs Peter Abair will tour the new lab at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
