Latest Coronavirus Cases In Medford

Medford was one of the 107 communities to report an increased case count relative to the previous week.

MEDFORD, MA — Over 100 of the state's communities, including Medford, had more coronavirus cases than last week, according to updated town-by-town coronavirus data released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health.

The data showed the positive case count over the last two weeks increased in 107 — or 30.5 percent — of the 351 communities in the state. The count declined in 120 communities, or 34.2 percent. The remaining third of the state's municipalities reported no change.

Medford's case count over the last 14 days was 25, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 1,091. The city has conducted 2,131 tests over the past two weeks, 27 of which came back positive. There have been 15,253 tests conducted overall in Medford.

The good news: the percent positive rate in Medford over the last two weeks was 1.27 percent. Health officials say positive test results need to stay below 5 percent for two weeks or longer and, preferably, be closer to 2 percent, for states to safely ease restrictions.

Ten towns had positive test rates at or above 5 percent and 60 had positive rates between 2 and 5 percent, DPH data showed.
