Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in 2010 Killing
Christopher Toppi has pleaded guilty to manslaughter stemming from the death of Brian Fahy in August 2010 in an apartment on Salem St.

A Cambridge man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of manslaughter in connection to the beating death of a man in a Salem Street apartment in 2010, prosecutors said.
Christopher Toppi, 29, of Cambridge, pled guilty in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn the charge and was sentenced to 15 to 18 years in prison, according to a press release from the office of County Attorney Gerry Leone.
Toppi allegedly confronted Brian Fahy, 28, of Weymouth in a bedroom of an apartment at 382 Salem St. at about 3 a.m. on Aug. 28,2010, prosecutors said. Fahy was beat to death with a blount object, according to prosecutors. About 3:30 a.m., Medford Police responded to the apartment, where the found Fahy suffering from severe head trauma.

Toppi was arrested shortly after, and arraigned on August 30, 2010, in Somerville District Court and held without bail, the press release said. He was indicted by a Middlesex Grand Jury in September 2010.
“Christopher Toppi has now admitted and taken responsibility for his actions that resulted in his causing the death of a young man,” Leone said in a written statement. “This is a case where the defendant resorted to a seriously violent physical assault to settle differences that turned fatal. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends.”
