Martha Coakley; A Spanish President; And a Fire in Roxbury

Good morning, here's five things to know today:
"This is a country that is founded on the idea that civil protest, rightful protest, is something that we guarantee," Coakley said in a brief interview Tuesday at City Hall in Medford. "I hope everyone in Washington will pay attention to this voice of frustration.”
The Spain-based genetic research company will be opening a new lab at Rivers Edge in Medford Tuesday. The President of the Basque region of Spain, Patxi Lopez, will be on hand for the ceremony, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. Progenika is based in Basque.

A Roxbury building was engulfed with flames early Monday morning after a Medford man attempted to kill himself inside, police said. Mohamed Abdul Jabar, 28 of Medford, set the fire in a failed suicide attempt at 71 Westminster Ave. in Roxbury, according to a Boston Police press release. Abdul Jabar took himself to Boston Medical Center for treatment and was then transferred to the burn unit at Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. He is being treated in intensive care with second degree burns to his arms, hands and face.
Vittorio Ettore’s new restaurant will be A Tavola, Italian for “at the table,” and is expected to open at 34 Church St. in Winchester in mid-November. Ettore describes A Tavola as “farm-to-table eclectic Italian.” The feel will be a bit more casual and rustic than Bistro 5, but with a continued focus on fresh, local ingredients.

5. Cloudy and Windy, But Mostly Nice: The weather is expected to be partly cloudy today with highs in the mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service. Winds could gust up to 25 miles per hour.
