
City officials will consider a $2 million overhaul to technology in Medford Public Schools in the coming weeks, Mayor Michael McGlynn said Monday.
The proposed plan would upgrade over 2,000 computers in the district, provide laptops to teachers and specialists, new printers, laptop carts for classrooms and technology infrastructure improvements, McGlynn said in a press conference at Medford High School Monday.

As currently written, the proposal calls for the district to receive 1,413 new laptops, 515 refurbished desktops and relocating 180 desktops already owned by the schools. A total of 2,108 computers would be upgraded under the proposal, which would be funded in a bond.
But it could change, McGlynn said. The proposal is expected to be brought to the City Council and School Committee in the next two weeks, he said.

"That plan is subject to change based on public input and approval from school committee and the council," McGlynn said.
