The city of Medford honored those impacted by the bombing attacks at the Boston Marathon April 15 with a massive, 45-by-90-feet American flag draped over Medford City Hall Monday.

"The American Flag symbolizes respect for all of the victims. It helps to bring people together and highlights the fact that we are strong and our flag will always fly freely and boldly," said Medford Mayor Michael McGlynn in a statement Monday.

According to the city, the flag was commissioned shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
