The alleged abuse between 2007 and 2011, prosecutors said. The victim was a Lexington resident.

"(Angelesco's) violent abuse and exercise of power and control continued for over three years, and often occurred in front of her young child," Leone said in a written statement. "We commend the Lexington Police Department in this case for working with this office to uncover the long and violent history of abuse by this defendant."

After being arrested following the July 24, 2010 incident, Angelesco threatened he would hurt the woman if she testified against him.

The physical abuse also continued, culminating in March of 2011 when the defendant repeatedly beat the victim over a two-week span of time, sending her to the hospital, the press release said.

The woman got a restraining order against Angelesco, but he allegedly repeatedly called and wrote letter to her from jail asking her to not cooperate with the prosecution, the press release said.

Angelesco was indicted in June. The charges against him include: two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery, stalking in violation of a restraining order, stalking, intimidation of a witness, and two counts of violation of a restraining order.
