MEDFORD, MA — Medford resident Laurel Ruma was recently recognized as a 2020 Commonwealth Heroine. Ruma, recommended by State Rep. Christine Barber, is a community representative to the working group for the Green Line Extension project.

The annual Commonwealth Heroines celebration recognizes women from across the state who "perform unheralded acts daily that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities and towns better places to live." State legislators are responsible for recommending women within their districts for the honor.

Ruma first served on the GLX design working group and continues to work with city and state officials to improve the safety, design and community impact of the project.
