Photos: Inside the Medford Police Department

City councilors toured the facility Tuesday.

The Medford Police Department headquarters on Main Street was built in 1962 and it has been outdated for years, according to Police Chief Leo Sacco.

Sacco led all seven city councilors on a tour of the building Tuesday night, taking them through evidence storage rooms ruined by flood and a broken gun range. He showed them black mold on ceilings, unusable holding cells, and asbestos falling from boiler pipes nearly 50 years old.

The building needs to be replaced, Sacco said.
