If you're picking a place to pick up a sandwich for lunch and it's narrowed down to in South Medford and in Somerville's Davis Square, you can't go wrong.

Bob's is classic - a specialty shop with Italian grocery goods up front and a deli counter in the back that serves up monsterous sandwiches on braided rolls.

Dave's has fresh-made pasta - the name is no lie - but it has a lunch counter of its own with fresh ingredients and tasty bread.
