Medford native Dale Hamilton-Powers brought the Cup to Medford.

Dale Hamilton-Powers is loyal to the Bruins, having worked for the franchise for 42 years. She proved equally loyal to her Medford roots by bringing the Stanley Cup to LoConte Rink Thursday.

The Bruins Director of Administration, Hamilton-Powers grew up in the Hillside and stayed in Medford until moving to Falmouth in 1989. When it came time to plan out her day with the Cup, there was never any question it would spend some time in Medford, she said.

"I grew up in Medford," she said. "It was just a given I would bring it back here."

Hamilton-Powers started working with the Bruins part-time during high school, then in 1975, Harry Sinden hired her full-time as his assistant. She's been with the organization ever since.

Hamilton-Powers toured Falmouth with the Cup Thursday morning before bringing it to Medford. It made brief stops at the Police and Fire Department before arriving at LoConte Rink, where hundreds were outside waiting for it.

"I was pretty surprised," Hamilton-Powers said. "When I called, they said there were 20 or 25 people outside and when I got here there were a whole lot more than that."

For a $20 donation, fans could touch the Cup and get their photo taken with it. The proceeds will go to pancreatic cancer research and Medford Youth Hockey, Hamilton-Powers said.

Medford Athletic Director Bob Maloney was amazed by the turnout.

"It's an unbelievable day. The Mayor was able to get the World Series trophy here a few years ago, now it's the Stanley Cup," Maloney said. "Now he's got to get Mr. Kraft to bring a Lombardi Trophy."
