Tufts Dental Students Fighting Cavities Around the Community
Tooth decay is a growing problem among American Children.

Tufts Dental students have been providing dental exams and teeth cleanings in an effort to bring dental care to those who cannot afford it.
The effort is part of Oral Health Across the Commonwealth, a partnership between Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services.
Tooth decay affects more children in the United States than asthma, impacting 40 percent of children. That is up from 24 percent in the 1990s, according to a report on the Tufts Univeristy Website.

Bad teeth can impact studens' performance in the classroom, interfere with sleep and even hurt their self-confidence.
The program is not limited to children, however. The third-year dental students go to schools, WIC centers and facilities for adults with special needs.
