Good morning, here's five things to know today:
Medford Public Schools face a suspended $30,000 fine after the Department of Environmental Protection found one of its schools improperly removed asbestos, according to a press release from the Mass DEP. During an inspection at Curtis Tufts School on Main Street environmental protection officials found that school maintenance staff removed asbestos containing material without the use of water, work area seal, or air cleaning devices as required by the regulations, according to the release.
A Medford teen allegedly brandished a gun at younger boys and ripped a gold chain off of a 14-year-old's neck in Medford Square Tuesday. Nicholas Sugrue, 18, of 35 Hillsdale Road, allegedly snuck up on four teens, who had ducked into an alley off of High Street to avoid him, pointed an CO2-powered handgun at them and pulled the trigger Tuesday afternoon, according to a police report.
