Here's five things. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.

Good morning, here's five things to know today:

A man was shot at a Boston Avenue home Sunday. The victim was found in the backyard of a two-family home on Boston Avenue near the intersection with High Street about 8 p.m after police received a 9-1-1 call. He was first rushed to Lawrence Memorial Hospital then taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The suspect fled the scene. There were unconfirmed reports late Sunday that a suspect was arrested. Medford Patch will have an update later today.

A female Tufts University student was sexually assaulted early Saturday morning near the intersection of College Avenue and Stanley Avenue, according to a university official. The victim reported being grabbed from behind by a man and indecently assaulted before scaring off the attacker at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Tufts University Spokeswoman Kim Thurler said in an email. The victim reported the incident to Tufts Police shortly after it occurred.

Medford residents flocked to the banks of the Mystic Saturday, where a celebration of the river was held at Condon Shell Park. Live music performed at the shell and booths and vendors dotted the park. The event was held as part of the Medford on the Mystic Arts Festival, which is running the month of October.

A Medford classic has plans to be re-born. Carroll's was once a diner on Main Street, just south of Medford Square. Now there are plans for a new Carroll's at 21 Main St. The family-owned and operated business is in the early stages of demolition work inside the new location, where Il Faro restaurant once was, and hopes to open before Christmas, Owner Maury Carroll said. "We think it will be something special," Carroll said. "We know the Square is getting rejuvenated and we’re pleased to be a piece of the puzzle."
