READING, MA — A crash in Reading on Friday caused traffic and train delays after a car ended up careening onto railroad tracks near the downtown area, police said.
Reading Police shared a photo from the crash site just before 4 p.m. on train tracks off Ash Street.
Police asked community members to avoid the area.

The MBTA shared an alert moments before Reading Police, reporting a train stopped before the Reading stop on the commuter rail’s Haverhill line.
The disruption caused rippling delays of between 20 and 30 minutes elsewhere in Haverhill line service, according to later updates on social media from the T.

Issues in Reading on Friday come a matter of hours after a person was killed in a collision with a train in Melrose.
That incident caused delays through the commuter rail’s Haverhill line earlier Friday afternoon.
