Construction Work to Affect Several Melrose Streets

Multiple detours and roadway closures will affect travel in Melrose this week. Here's a look at which streets will be affected.

The Melrose Public Works Department has many construction projects planned this week. Several area streets will be affected and detours will be in place. The work will be conducted as part of the Lebanon Street Project.

Here’s a look at the streets that will be affected:

Lebanon Street: Sidewalk work between First Street and Grove Street. Expect detours in the area.
Main Street: Curb and sidewalk work between Crystal Street and Ell Pond.
Upham Street: Curb and sidewalk work will continue between Lebanon and Bellevue with segmented detours. There will be a detour on the outbound side of Upham Street at Lebanon today (Monday).
Lebanon and East Emerson Streets: Transition work. Detour on the outbound side of East Emerson Street.

National Grid/Keyspan contract crews will be working in the following areas:

Essex Street at Emerson doing gas main replacement work with detours in place between Vinton and Emerson. Detours may also be required on Essex Street between Vine and Emerson.

Adams and Chester Street and West Wyoming Avenue at Adams Street, doing gas main replacement work.

Sidewalk work will be performed in the Baxter and Whittier Street area. The Whittier Street work may require roadway closures between Baxter and Sanford Streets.

Sewer replacement work is going on at Stone Place.

Water connection work may be performed mid-week at 130 Tremont Street (across from the football field). Traffic may be limited to one way while this work is going on.
