MELROSE, MA — A family of coyotes was spotted traversing Beacon Street backyards Sunday. A mother and three pups were traveling together shortly after 5 p.m. After heading north, the mother turned back to retrieve one of her babies as it had fallen behind. The family then decided to head south where they originally came from. Massachusetts has approximately 12,000 coyotes. A coyote den is known to be present at the nearby Forestdale Cemetery in Malden.
