First Ever Roosevelt Elementary's World Cultures Fair Slated For Thursday

Thursday, May 28, marks the first team-up between Roosevelt Elementary and Melrose High's GEM.

Is it ever too early to teach children about cultures and traditions beyond generic American? Sure! When they’re babies and still working on figuring out stuff like talking.

But Roosevelt Elementary School and Melrose High School’s Global Education Melrose group have joined forces to show that elementary school students - most of whom have already mastered talking - can absolutely benefit from exploring other cultures.

Hence, the first ever official World Cultures Fair has been scheduled at the Roosevelt Elementary School on Thursday, May 28.

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt gymnasium, more than 80 elementary school students will present their “experiences” - which sound loosely like book report/science project hybrids - based on research from 30 different countries.

More info, including a quote from the project’s founder, can be found at Mayor Dolan’s blog here.
