Jennifer Grigoraitis Announces Candidacy For Mayor Of Melrose

MELROSE, MA – Jennifer Grigoraitis has announced her candidacy for Mayor of Melrose, after Mayor Paul Brodeur announced on Monday he will not seek reelection in upcoming November elections.

Grigoraitis currently serves as city council president for Melrose and in 2019 she was elected to represent the city’s Ward 6 neighborhood.

“I love this community and am so proud to be raising my family here,” Grigoraitis said in a news release. “My leadership on the City Council, including two terms as president, my constituent-focused service as a Ward Councilor, and my professional experience at the executive level have prepared me to lead Melrose in a collaborative way with a focus on bringing people together and delivering results.”

In the city council, Grigoraitis has worked to advocate for strengthening Melrose public schools, fiscal oversight, and robust city services for all residents.

“I believe that local government can be a force for good, positively supporting people in neighborhoods where they live, work and raise their children,” Grigoraitis said in the news release. “We all have a role to play, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with everyone to deliver great services to a great community.”

Apart from her work in local politics, Grigoraitis is a parent-volunteer at the Winthrop School and the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School.

She is a member of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, and the Ward 6 Chair of the Melrose Democratic City Committee. She previously served as a founding member of the One Melrose Campaign and as a Board Member of the Melrose Education Foundation.

Grigoraitis and her husband Bill Kreamer live on Lebanon Street with their two children Graham and Reid and their dog Clementine.

Professionally, Grigoraitis is the Chief of Staff at the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA), a state agency, where she manages a staff of 30 and administers an annual budget of $60 million, including awarding major federal grants that support victims of violent crime to 140 programs across the state.
