Melrose Wants You To Wear A Mask. Here's How To Donate, Get One
The emergency public health advisory says all residents should wear a mask while in public.
MELROSE, MA — A day after a public health advisory imploring residents to wear masks in public, the city has issued guidance for anyone who would like to make or request masks.
The emergency public health advisory goes into effect Tuesday at 9 p.m. It asks everyone to observe a 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. curfew. Residents are also asked to cover their nose and mouth with a non-medical mask, scarf, bandana or other covering. Surgical and N-95 masks should be reserved for health care workers and first responders, per federal guidelines.

People would like to make masks can bring them to the Health Department at City Hall Monday between noon - 2 p.m. People who would like to make masks for healthcare workers at MelroseWakefield Hospital can put them in the book box in front of the Melrose Public Library at any time.
"We are asking our residents to take strong and sometimes difficult measures in order to keep the whole community healthy," Mayor Paul Brodeur said in a release Tuesday. "We are asking you to stay inside as much as possible, and when you go out, to wear a mask and stay at least six feet away from other people. To be clear, these precautions are both to protect you and to protect others in case you have the virus but aren’t having any symptoms."
