Tree Lighting, Santa, More Planned At Melrose Home For The Holidays
The citywide Home for the Holidays celebration will return this week in Melrose.
MELROSE, MA — Melrose will celebrate the season this week with the return of its Home for the Holidays slate of festivities.
The citywide program will kick off on Friday, Dec. 2 and continue on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Friday events will begin at 5:45 p.m. at Melrose City Hall with a holiday sing-along. Programming will continue between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. with the lighting of Melrose’s City Hall Christmas Tree and a short walk to the Melrose YMCA for a visit from Santa.

Santa is scheduled to arrive in downtown Melrose atop a fire engine, according to plans shared by the Melrose Chamber of Commerce.
He will be accompanied by Melrose High School drummers.

Santa will later move to the Knights of Columbus in Melrose at 23 West Foster Street for pictures, hot cocoa and holiday music, among other things, as noted by the Chamber.
Saturday programming will continue with a day of fairs, performances, sales and more.
Organizers will run free trolleys between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. beginning at Melrose's Cedar Park station and making several stops around the city.
Organizers plan to share a more complete list of Saturday activities prior to the day itself.
Home for the Holidays is backed by community sponsors including the Residence at Melrose Station and MelroseWakefield Hospital.
