2022 Milford Brush To Table Winners Revealed

See the three artists picked to design picnic tables to be placed around town later this summer.

MILFORD, MA — The Milford Cultural Council has selected the three winners of the 2022 Brush To Table project. Each artist will design a table that will be stationed near the Italian-American Veterans post near Fino Field and along the Upper Charles Trail.

The Milford Cultural Council (MCC) is pleased to announce that the artists and sponsors for the council’s second round of its public art initiative, the Brush to Table Picnic Table Project, have been selected. The council extends its appreciation to all the artists who submitted designs and to the sponsors who have opted to provide stipends to the winning artists.

The winning design titles, artists, and sponsors are:

  • “America” by Bianca Sayuri De Oliveira, sponsored by Milford Italian-American War Veterans Post #40
  • “Peace Protectors” by Kaylin Holmes, sponsored by Sgt. John W. Powers Post AmericanLegion Auxiliary Unit #59
  • “To Our Nation’s Troops” by Nicole King, sponsored by Solutions 2 Accessibility

Artists were asked to submit patriotic designs to reflect the location of the tables’ future placement on the Upper Charles Trail near the Italian American Veterans Hall. The council purchased the tables, which have been built by students in the Milford High School Building Trades Department.

The Brush to Table Picnic Table Project is the first phase in the council’s multi-phase public art initiative planned for 2022, Art in the Parks, being conducted in partnership with the Milford Parks Department and Highway Department. The next phase―Trash to Treasure, a series of 12 creatively designed and painted trash barrels—will be announced early next month with a call to both artists and sponsors.

A reveal event for Art in the Parks is planned for Saturday, September 10. The rain date is September 11. The primary event location will be Fino Field, with barrels placed along the trail to the satellite location at Louisa Lake. Details will be announced at a later date.

The MCC seeks to promote excellence, inclusion, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and sciences to foster a rich cultural experience for all Milford residents. Current members include: Geri Eddins, Chairperson; Sandra Buckley, Vice Chairperson; Martin Montoya, Treasurer; Nicole Romiglio, Secretary; C.C. Chapman; Jenny Lyons; Aboighasem Moazeni; Noressa Santomenna; Patricia Solomon; Michael Visconti; and Sara Vono-Caires. Any resident who is interested in joining the council is invited to complete a talent bank application (available on the town website) and return it to the Town Administrator’s office.

The MCC welcomes ideas, recommendations, and feedback regarding programs and events funded or sponsored by the council. Interested Milford residents are encouraged to attend meetings, which are held every third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. typically in Room 14 of Town Hall.
