MILFORD, MA — The Milford Cultural Council (MCC) reminds artists, art students, and creatives that the last day to submit designs for the Fitness CourtⓇ mural project in Milford Town Park is midnight on Friday, January 12. This public art project is being conducted in partnership with the Milford Parks Commission, the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. The selected artist will work with NFC to adapt their art to fit the 32’ wide multipurpose training wall on the Fitness Court and will receive a grant of $5,000 after the Fitness Court is installed.

Milford Cultural Council Chair Geri Eddins says, “We are thrilled to offer this opportunity for artists to submit designs for this mural project, which will be on prominent display in Milford’s centrally located Town Park for years to come. In addition to being awarded the $5,000 grant, the winning artist’s photo, biography, and web details will be included on the side panels of the Fitness Court and will be published on the NFC website with dozens of other artists whose artwork is featured on Fitness Courts across the country.”

The 2024 Town Park Fitness Court mural project adds a new phase to the MCC’s ongoing Art in the Parks initiative, conducted in partnership with the Milford Parks Department and Highway Department. Art in the Parks was launched in 2021 with the Brush to Table Picnic Table project and followed by the Trash to Treasure Barrel project in 2022, a second round of Brush to Table, and the installation of hand-crafted game boards at Louisa Lake in 2022.
