Carnival Coming To Milford, But Not At High School
The Select Board declined to grant organizers permission to operate at the high school, but did offer an alternative site.

MILFORD, MA — A carnival will likely open in Milford beginning later this month, although the organizers almost didn't get permission from the town.
New Hampshire-based Fiesta Shows originally applied for a permit to host the carnival at Milford High School. The event is being held along with the town's July 4 committee, which will receive a part of the proceeds.
The Select Board during Monday's meeting raised a number of concerns about the carnival taking place at the high school — from traffic, noise and parking to where carnival employees will be sleeping at night.

Select Board member Tom O'Loughlin proposed that the organizers instead move the event to Plains Park. The board ultimately voted unanimously to grant the carnival permission to operate there — as long as organizers get approvals from the police chief, fire chief, Board of Health, Building Department and Parks Department first.
If all approvals are met, the carnival would begin setting up on July 21. The event would open on July 29 and run until Aug. 1. The carnival will feature food, games and rides like a Ferris wheel, a bounce house and more.
