Church Holds Candlelight Vigil For Those Lost to Gun Violence

This local church holds Beyond Thoughts and Prayers: A Candlelight Vigil for Those Lost to Gun Violence" on Thursday night. All are welcome.

HOPEDALE, MA— The Hopedale Unitarian Parish hosts a “Beyond Thoughts and Prayers: A Candlelight Vigil for Those Lost to Gun Violence” on Thursday night.

Announced on the church's Facebook page, the 7:30 p.m. vigil is in response to the mass shooting at a Florida high school that killed 17 and injured many others on Wednesday.

The church writes that the candle lighting service is of remembrance for "the 24 people killed by guns in our country yesterday, Feb. 14."

As part of the gathering, organizers said they would take action and organize further action to encourage a dialogue leading to a congregational resolution against gun violence and to encourage our local and federal governments to enact stricter controls on access to firearms.

The parish is located at 65 Hopedale St., Hopedale.
