Lost MA Cockatiel Captured After Hearing 'Tequila' Melody

All it took to lure Thor the cockatiel home was a punchy sax riff and one word: tequila.

MILFORD, MA — You'll have this tune stuck in your head for the rest of the day: a lost cockatiel was captured and returned home after hearing the surf rock classic "Tequila" by The Champs.

Thor the cockatiel was reported missing from a Milford home along Goodrich Court on May 27. Thor's owner, Paula Faria, posted about the coop-flown exotic bird on social media. She advised that Thor would respond to any man who whistles the "Tequila" melody.

According to Wrentham police, the bird was spotted in the town on Wednesday, perching on rooftops across several neighborhoods. After eluding the town's animal control officer, Thor was was finally lured by a homeowner along L’Herault Drive.

"[J]ust like that, in flies Thor, to the dining room, nesting upon [the whistler's] head, remaining there until his feather-free parents arrive to take him home," Wrentham police wrote in a Facebook post.

The Champs' 1958 hit features one of the most recognizable melodies in rock'n roll, and was prominently featured in the 1985 film "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" — a movie that also tells the story of a person searching for a missing, beloved possession.
