The Milford Community Chorus proudly invites you to an enjoyable evening of song performed for your pleasure on Saturday, May 4th at 7:30 PM or Sunday, May 5th at 1:30 in the afternoon at Stacy Middle School.
The theater entrance is located on School Street across from Memorial Hall. The Chorus, under the musical direction of Dan Zabinski from Uxbridge has been rehearsing some of their favorite songs from the past for their Spring concert aptly titled “Simply the Best!” You will hear favorites like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, a major hit by the Andrews Sisters during World War II, sung by the women’s chorus and the popular Otis Redding song, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” performed by the Men’s chorus.
The combined chorus will perform recent favorites like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, a South African Song from the 1930s revised in the mid-nineties Disney film “The Lion King” with amazing solo performances throughout the piece.“Shenandoah”, performed by the chorus in eight parts, is a traditional American Folk Song dating from the early nineteenth century. It was a sea chantey made popular among sailors, especially those on the Missouri River and later was found in old public school collections. “What shall we do with a Drunken Sailor?” is another sea chantey from the same era to be presented, but in a much sillier style!
