MA Correction Officer Accused Of Smuggling Drugs: Reports

SHIRLEY, MA — A Massachusetts Department of Correction officer was arrested Saturday and is facing charges of bringing synthetic cannabinoid-laced paper into MCI-Shirley to deliver to a prisoner, according to multiple reports.
The accusations against the former officer, Roxsandra Wright, come amid an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice and Massachusetts State Police Joint Narcotics Task Force into the smuggling of illicit narcotics into Department of Justice facilities, WHDH and WCVB reported.
Wright resigned from her position in October and is set to be arraigned in Ayer District Court Monday, according to WCVB.

"The Massachusetts Department of Correction holds all staff members to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity," DOC Interim Commissioner Shawn Jenkins said in a statement shared with both outlets. "Any behavior that compromises the safety and security of our facilities, or undermines public trust, will not be tolerated."
