"After my son was born in 2012, I decided to get involved in town government."

My name is Mike Soares and I am running for State Representative for the 10th Worcester District, which covers Milford, Mendon, Hopedale and the most western precinct in Medway. Unlike our selectmen and school Committee races, the election for the seat I am running for won't happen until November.
A little background about myself: I was born and raised in Milford and currently live here with my wife Shannon and our two kids, ages 5 and 3. I graduated from Blackstone Valley Tech where I studied electronics and I have been working in the industry ever since.

After my son was born in 2012, I decided to get involved in town government, having decided with my wife that Milford was going to be where we would raise our family and live our lives.
I first got elected as a Town Meeting Member and shortly after I got appointed to the Capital Improvement Committee. I served on the CIC until being appointed to the Finance Committee and most recently I have been appointed as the Finance Committee representative on the Transportation Advisory Committee.

I am running as a moderate Republican. I believe Governor Baker has done a great job and he needs more like-minded Representatives on Beacon Hill. I describe myself as fiscally conservative and socially small government; what you do in the privacy of your own home is none of my business nor the government's.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have and humbly ask for your support in November.
