Milford 2023 Town Meeting Guide: What's Up For A Vote

Milford's spring Town Meeting kicks off Monday. The warrant includes a range of items, from new salaries to a bike speed limit.

MILFORD, MA — Milford's spring 2023 Town Meeting kicks off Monday night, with members set to vote on a range of issues from salaries for town employees to a new bike helmet requirement.

Town Meeting will kick off at 7 p.m. at Milford Town Hall. The meeting may wrap up that night, but may also continue to multiple nights if necessary. Here are some highlights from the warrant, which includes 29 articles:

Article 3 — Fixes the salaries of key town officials — including the select board chair, town clerk, and other board members — at fiscal year 2022 rates.

Article 7 — Allows the school committee to use revenue from school vending machines to fund student activities.

Article 13 — Gives the Select Board power to study whether to set up an electricity aggregation program. Other towns and cities with these programs allow residents to buy electricity at lower prices than those offered by companies like Eversource and National Grid.

Article 21 — Formally allows the use of electronic bikes along bike paths in Milford, chiefly the Upper Charles River Trail. The article also requires anyone under 16 to wear a helmet on bike paths, and sets a 15 mph speed limit.

Article 27 — This article allows the town to start planning to build the first dog park in Milford. Local residents have been pushing for a dog park for years.
