This year’s grants will help fund a wide variety of events for residents of all ages, including musical performances, poetry readings, visual arts instruction and exhibits, and the “Combatting Hate and Prejudice” lecture by Holocaust survivor Janet Applefield at Milford High School. Grant funds were also awarded to several town events and projects, including the Christmas Tree Lighting, Welcome Santa Parade, and the Fourth of July Parade. In addition, the council awarded grants to provide support for upcoming performances by the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, Greater Milford Community Chorus, Milford Performing Arts Center, and Birch Alley Brass. Opportunities for science programming are being supported at the Discovery Museum in Acton and the Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning at Framingham State.
