Milford Has New Mattress, Box Spring Recycling Option
Apart from cathode ray tubes, mattresses and box springs are one of the hardest items to recycle. Milford residents have a new option.

MILFORD, MA — Following a change in state rubbish rules late in 2022, Milford is now offering an easier way for residents to get rid of old mattresses and box springs.
In November, a new state Department of Environmental Protection rule deemed that mattresses and box springs could no longer be thrown away. Those items now have to be recycled or donated.
Milford also changed town rules around mattresses and box springs. In 2020, the town stopped collecting the items at the curb, requiring residents to bring the mattresses and box springs to the transfer station to be recycled.

Now, the town has brought back the curbside service. A new partnership with a Holliston Green Team Junk Removal franchise will give residents the chance to have bedding items picked up for a fee: $75 for mattresses, and $75 for box springs.
Milford residents can still recycle mattresses and box springs at the transfer for $30 per item.
