MILFORD, MA — The Milford High School track and field will be off limits to the public through early October starting this week, according to the school district.

The district on Wednesday will begin a new phase of a larger project replacing the high school football field and track. Construction crews will begin replacing the track surface, meaning the entire facility will be closed until Oct. 10.

"It is critical that we all stay off of the field even after installation as the surface of the track has to cure and set," the district said in a notice to residents Tuesday.

The track and field replacement project began at the end of the last school year, closing the facility to the public at the end of June. At the end of the project, the high school field will have a new turf surface, along with the resurfaced track.

The tennis courts and softball fields at the school will be open for use during the track project.
