MILFORD, MA — Milford Public Schools will host two appointment-only coronavirus vaccine clinics for kids this week, which happen as the state begins a big push to get children inoculated as winter approaches.

The two Milford clinics will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the gym at Woodland Elementary School. Parents can make appointments for the clinics online here.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the two-shot Pfizer version of the coronavirus vaccine for use in kids between ages 5 and 11. Before this fall, the FDA had only allowed the Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson versions for use in kids down to age 12. The Moderna version is still only for use in people over age 18.

The pediatric version of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine shot is smaller: 10 micrograms of vaccine versus 30 micrograms for people over age 12.

Gov. Charlie Baker said last week that he does not foresee any supply issues with the pediatric version of the COVID-19 vaccine. Parents who can't attend the Woodland clinic can find pediatric vaccine appointments elsewhere on the state's VaxFinder website.
