MILFORD, MA — Milford Public Schools announced that the district recieved a grant of more than $32,600 for an after-school program.
The money will go toward the After School Math Tutoring Club at Stacy Middle School for the current school year. The grant, awarded by the Community Foundation for MetroWest, will support 40 students in grades 6 through 8.
“This After School Math Tutoring programming allows a handful of our students to receive two on one tutoring for the majority of the school year,” said Kerry Taylor, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. “It makes a huge difference in their mathematical confidence and achievement in the classroom."

The grant also connects the school with the Community Foundation's network, including SAGA education, which trains volunteer tutors who will work directly with students.

The tutoring program at Stacy Middle School is in its third year, and has recieved over $100,000 in funding from the foundation.
Milford Public Schools reported that 6th graders in the tutoring program grew by 110%, which is significantly higher than the 73% average growth for all other 6th graders in Milford.
“The After School Math Tutoring Club at Stacy Middle School has shown promising outcomes," said Dr. Caridad Lopez, Principal of Stacy Middle School. "It is inspiring to witness the progress, confidence and growth our students are building in math. We are looking forward to supporting even more growth in the year ahead."
