Milford Will Host 4 Free Flu Shot Clinics This Fall

A potentially bad flu season may be on the way, but Milford residents will have four chances to get protected.

MILFORD, MA — Flu season is near, and some health experts say it could be worse in this winter than the previous two mild flu seasons during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To prepare residents, the Milford Board of Health and Milford Central Pharmacy are teaming up to offer four free flu shot clinics over the next few weeks. The clinics are open to any Milford resident over age 3.

Here are the times, dates and locations of each 2022 Milford flu shot clinic:

  • Birmingham Court apartments, 68 Sumner St. — Sept. 22, 12:30 to 3 p.m.
  • Milford Senior Center, 60 North Bow St. — Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to noon; Sept. 27, 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Milford High School, 31 West Fountain St. — Oct. 3, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Flu season in the Northern Hemisphere typically lasts between October and April. But the Southern Hemisphere is just ending its 2022 flu season. Countries like Australia have recorded some of the worst flu seasons in recent years, an indicator of possible virus trends in the U.S.

The flu seasons in 2020 and 2021 were some of the mildest in the Northern Hemisphere in recent years — largely due to precautions like masking and social distancing put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
