Milford's Only Outdoor Public Pool Opens For Summer 2023

MILFORD, MA — Summer swimming season is finally coming to Milford.

The state-run Sen. P. Eugene Casey Memorial Swimming Pool along Prospect Street will open for summer on Saturday, offering the only outdoor public pool experience in town.

Milford swimmers lost access to the outdoor pool at Fino Field at the end of the 2019 season. The 60-year-old facility was set for a renovation, but the pandemic also intervened to keep it closed. Milford Town Meeting in 2021 voted to spend $4.6 million to replace the pool. The pool is still closed with renovations pending.

The pool at Milford High School is also open regularly throughout the year for town residents to take classes and other activities — but the high school pool is indoors.

The Casey pool is one of 24 across the state operated by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation that will open for summer on Saturday. The Casey pool will be open until Aug. 20 11:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. daily.
