With Rain In Forecast, Celebrate Milford Will Still Happen

Celebrate Milford 2023 is set for Saturday. Here's what to know about the festival, including street closures and the rain date.

MILFORD, MA — No matter what the weather brings, Celebrate Milford will happen this weekend.

The annual town festival sponsored by the Milford Cultural Council will start Saturday at 10 a.m. with the traditional youth parade, followed at 10:30 a.m. by 90 minutes of music and dance performances at the Multicultural Performing Arts Festival Stage at Town Park.

There will be a kids' play area open all day, plus a beer tent for adults starting at 11 a.m. See the full lineup of entertainers here. The cultural council will also have a tent featuring lists of recommended reading, multicultural coloring pages, displays of native clothing and crafts.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 70 percent chance of rain in the Milford Saturday, mostly after 1 p.m. The showers will continue into the evening hours. If rain does spoil the day Saturday, Celebrate Milford will take place Sunday, with the forecast calling for sun and temperatures in the 70s.

Milford police are also gearing up for the event. Police will close Walnut Street, and restrict parking along Congress Street between Spruce and Walnut.

Celebrate Milford 2023 received a boost from the Massachusetts Cultural Council in the form of a $2,500 festivals grant.

"The Milford Cultural Council invites all members of the community to celebrate our cultural and artistic diversity by gathering at Celebrate Milford to enjoy this showcase of local performing artists," the council said in a news release. "Like many Massachusetts communities, Milford is a melting pot. The council hopes to help foster understanding of the different voices living among us through a demonstration of various music, dance and literature."
