On The Run For 32 Days, Missing Milford Dog Back Home
Ruby the golden retriever used "yoga moves" to elude captors, all while growing a big social media following.

MILFORD, MA — After more than a month on the lam, a Milford golden retriever is back home this week — although she didn't quite go willingly.
The group Missing Dogs Massachusetts (MDM) was able to trap Ruby on Sunday night. Ruby was first reported missing from Milford on Dec. 16 from a home near the intersection of Woodridge and Whitewood roads close to the Upton town line.
"Ruby is extremely timid and proved to be extremely trap savvy with her yoga moves. MDM had a regular trap and a kennel trap set up (that she wanted no part of). With all MDM’s knowledge and experience, we are prepared to handle any obstacles and often had to change strategies," MDM volunteer Michele Gushee, of Bellingham, said.

During Ruby's 32 days living outdoors, her supporters set up a Facebook page for the dog, attracting hundreds of followers who tracked the retriever's story. The owners and volunteers had know where Ruby was since around New Year's Eve, but were giving her room because of how skittish she is.
Ruby spent her first night indoors in a warm bed with her family on Monday.

"For now, she’s a tired pup and is resting and soaking in all the pats," her owners reported on the page Come Home Ruby.
