Students Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program
Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. Four Milford High School students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as Commended Students. They scored in the top 5 percent of the 1.5 million students in the U.S. who took the PSAT in 2012. They are: Peter S. Bae, Michelle Kenney, Ian Michelson, and Joiya Sousa.
2. Sen. Richard T. Moore has announced the 72nd Citizens' Legislative Seminar will be held on March 4 and 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the State House. The seminar is a hands-on opportunity for constituents to learn and participate in the legislative process, while experiencing the role and duties of a legislator. Interested residents in Moore's district are invited to contact Sean Riley at (617) 722-1420, or by e-mail atsean.riley@masenate.gov, to seek Moore’s nomination. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis.
3. The Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club recently announced that its toy drive, through Toys for Tots, resulted in 140 toys for children being collected.
4. Reminder that Milford is participating in the Smart 911 program, which gives dispatchers immediate information if you call 911 about your family and any special needs. This costs residents nothing. Sign up here.
5. In Case You Missed It: Milford garbage and recycling will be collected a day late this week, starting today, because of the Christmas holiday. If you normally put out garbage on Wednesday, put it out Thursday instead, and so on.
