West Nile In Milford: Mosquito Tests Positive, Extra Spraying Coming

MILFORD, MA — Milford has joined the more than 50 communities in Massachusetts that have confirmed positive West Nile samples this summer, according to the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project.

The positive sample was collected along Camp Street on the north side of Milford close to the Upton and Hopkinton lines. Due to the positive sample, Milford will get extra mosquito spraying on Wednesday.

So far 55 communities from Pittsfield to Boston have detected West Nile in mosquitoes. As of Tuesday evening, the state Department of Public Health said the risk of humans contracting West Nile in the Milford area was "low."
