MILFORD, MA—Milford Public Schools is inviting the community to recommend its choice for the annual Outstanding Teacher Award.

It has become a Milford tradition to annually present this prestigious award to a Milford Public School teacher, said the announcements. After reviewing all the recommendation forms that have been received, a teacher from each building is selected by that school’s school council to represent their respective building. A final selection committee of Milford citizens chooses from among these seven candidates to name the outstanding teacher of the year. Candidates for this award are judged on the following criteria:

  • The teacher shall have displayed noteworthy, innovative, and effective teaching methods which have enhanced student interest and performance.
  • The teacher’s engagement in professional development has directly contributed to the improvement of his/her effectiveness in the education of students.
  • The teacher’s engagement with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the school community has contributed to establishing an effective learning environment.
  • The teacher has worked beyond his/her assigned classroom responsibilities to promote the continued education of the youth in the community.

In addition, the teacher must have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the Milford Public Schools.
