First MPL Concert in Spring Series: Vocalist Donna McElroy and Pianist George W. Russell, Jr.

On Saturday, 2/28, starting at 2 PM, there will be a first Spring concert held in the library's Keys Room. This will be an inspiring and celebratory musical event which is great for all ages. Talented pianist and Berklee College of Music Prof. George W. Russell, Jr. will accompany the amazing vocalist Prof. Emerita Donna McElroy at this program. These two music powerhouses will love entertaining us in this hour-long presentation, to share a diverse repertoire including gospel, pop and jazz.
Prof. Russell is Chair of the Harmony and Jazz Composition Dept. at Berklee, and who plays equally well solo and with large ensembles. George has received numerous awards for excellence in both teaching and performance. He also was chief musician for Jubilee (formerly New Covenant) Christian Church in Boston for 15 years. Prof. McElroy is an incredible singer who retired in 2021 after 24 years from teaching at Berklee. In addition to working as an arranger and background vocalist on gold and platinum releases, Donna received the 1993 "Best Actress Award" for her Circle Players' performance as Sister Mary Regan in "Nunsense." She was also the recipient of a Grammy nomination for "Bigger World" (WB).
