East Milton Deck Project Presented To Select Board

MILTON, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public meeting on Wednesday to present plans for the East Milton Square Bridge Deck Reconstruction project.

Mass DOT presented the plans to the Milton Select Board this past Wednesday.

Construction is set to begin in three phases beginning next month with pre-construction activities starting on Aug. 3 and construction beginning in mid-August.

The plan is designed to optimize "mobility for all throughout East Milton Square and creating a more inviting environment for visitors to Manning Park."

Mass DOT will have the contractor and design partners on the public virtual meeting to answer any questions. The meeting can be accessed here.

The project includes bridge deck construction, beautifying and reactivating Manning Park, traffic and safety improvements to Adams Street, Granite Avenue, Bryant Avenue, Boulevard Street, Edge Hill Road and Bassett Road, and closure of the Adams Street crossover for a bicyclists, pedestrians, emergency vehicles and recreational events.

The project is expected to proceed in three, four-to-six week phases before a final phase lasting six to eight months. It is expected to be concluded in 2021.
